1. How was IDEAL-WAY.ca conceived?
IDEAL-WAY.ca is, uniquely, the concept of its Founding Director, Rob Hajjar, who was born with Down syndrome.
2. What is IDEAL-WAY.ca?
IDEAL-WAY.ca is a not-for-profit organization which is dedicated to enriching the lives of intellectually disabled individuals and groups. IDEAL-WAY.ca “builds bridges…the pathway to inclusion for persons with intellectual disability”.
3. What is a person with intellectual disability?
It is important to know that a person with intellectual disability is just as deserving as any other person and shares many of the same traits as everyone else. In some ways, they may be different but they have the same needs as everyone else. What sets them apart is that they have some limitations in their ability to perform on a day to day basis. Some must also contend with physical and/or emotional challenges. Although some things may take a little longer for them to do, they often have big hearts and lots of love to give. They do not judge people and are very open to relationships.
If we allow them to, they can be our teachers in life.
Their positive contribution to society is immeasurable.
4. Why do so many persons have intellectual disability?
intellectual disability is a group which any person can join... at any time... involuntarily. Some may join at birth. Others may join by accident, through illness or, increasingly common, via the normal aging process.
5. How is IDEAL-WAY.ca funded?
Donations Greatly Appreciated. Funding comes from Director philanthropy, direct fundraising, and donations.
6. How does my disabled loved one benefit from IDEAL-WAY.ca?
As IDEAL-WAY.ca educates mainstream society to welcome inclusion of those with intellectually disability, your loved one will benefit simply by, generally, feeling acknowledged and accepted. When an intellectually disabled individual feels included, and is allowed to be a part of their community, he/she will feel... IDEAL... Included, Deserving, Equal, Appreciated and Loved.
We believe that persons with intellectual disability must not just be in the general community, but must be a part of that community. Your loved one will benefit as mainstream society embraces their presence and, first and foremost, sees them as persons, and not only as being intellectually disabled.
Secondly, IDEAL-WAY.ca makes a difference in the area of “relief of poverty”. Our intellectually disabled friends and neighbours are the most impoverished Canadians. These individuals live on a minimal ODSP pension and are, all too often, unable to afford normal material things they need or deserve for a reasonably good quality of life. We are not suggesting “satin sheets”, or “designer clothing”. But, everyone deserves to have basic necessities such as decent bedding, shoes, a few pairs of slacks, a winter coat and boots, etc.
IDEAL-WAY.ca is the bridge to making such things possible for them by providing FREE clothing, FREE household goods, FREE entertainment, etc. to as many of our clients as our finite resources will, from time to time, allow.
7. How can I get involved?

• Become an IDEAL Supporter. Consider helping us to fulfill our mission by becoming an “ideal” partner or sponsor. Help with our financial burden is vital and necessary for us to be able to continue doing our good work. You may choose to donate via cash or cheque, payable to IDEAL-WAY.ca; and/or donate via spare storage space; and/or donate the occasional use of a collection vehicle such as a cargo van; etc. Give us the tools and we will do an “ideal” job. Your support will make all the difference.
• Become an IDEAL Volunteer. Volunteers are needed for many things. We can assure you that your “ideal” volunteer experience will leave you with a wonderful, gratifying feeling. 8. Is IDEAL-WAY.ca affiliated with any religious organization?
Although we are not a part of any particular religion, IDEAL-WAY.ca, is a God-inspired organization. Our active Founding Director, Robert Pio Hajjar, ritually secludes himself for one hour, daily, in order to commune with God.
9. What is IDEAL-WAY.ca trying to accomplish?
IDEAL-WAY.ca seeks mainstream recognition that all persons with an intellectual disability deserve to feel IDEAL...Included, Deserving,
Equal, Appreciated and Loved.
10. What is the significance of $62.05?
$62.05 is the exact amount of the first donation received by IDEAL-WAY.ca.
Being well aware that he has Down syndrome, IDEAL-WAY.ca Founding Director, Robert Pio Hajjar, donated his entire life’s savings ($62.05) as ‘seed money’ for the IDEAL cause. This currency is proudly maintained within a prominent glass display case in our IDEAL Head Office, as a constant reminder of our IDEAL Mission and Vision.
